Dr Ashley Porter is a RANZCO-certified eye surgeon with years of experience dedicated to treating patients and has expertise in cataracts, pterygium, and general ophthalmology.

He earned his medical degree from the University of Newcastle and completed a Master of Medicine (Ophthalmic Science) at the University of Sydney. His ophthalmology specialist training was completed through the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Ophthalmologists in Queensland.

Dr Porter worked as the senior registrar at the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, gaining extensive experience in cataracts, pterygium, glaucoma and complex anterior segment surgery. He was then chosen for a fellowship at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, where he further developed his skills and was awarded the prestigious Dr Robert Pashby award for his work.

He remains a consultant ophthalmologist at the Surgical Treatment and Rehabilitation Service and the Queensland Children’s Hospital, where he teaches medical students, registrars, and fellows. He actively leads clinical trials, presents at national and international conferences, and holds a senior lecturer position at the University of Queensland.

Dr Porter and the team believe that strong partnerships with optometrists and General Practitioners are key to delivering the highest standard of eye care. He strives for excellence in clinical and surgical care, with a focus on providing detailed patient education, that empowers patients to take charge of their eye health and partners with them through their journey.
