Welcome to Vision for Life Institute
At Vision for Life Institute, we are committed to supporting adults in managing their vision and caring for their eye health at every stage of life. From cataracts and glaucoma to other vision-related concerns, we provide guidance and support.
Once a detailed evaluation has been completed, our ophthalmologists will outline appropriate management and potential treatment pathways based on clinical observations and personal needs.
Eye Care and Treatment Pathways
Laser eye surgery
Refractive surgery options such as LASIK, PRK, and SMILE are available for most patients and carried out using advanced ophthalmic technology.
Glaucoma surgery
A variety of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery options are available, aimed at lowering intraocular pressure and protecting the optic nerve.
Cataract surgery
Cataract surgery involves the removal of the clouded natural lens through precise micro-incision techniques, followed by the placement of a clear artificial lens.
Additional Eye Treatments
ICL surgery
Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) surgery involves placing a lens inside the eye that may assist with focusing.
Refractive lens exchange
The procedure replaces the eye’s natural lens with a clear artificial lens to help manage vision changes that may occur with age.
Eye injections
Eye injections deliver medication into the eye for retinal conditions.
Pterygium surgery
During pterygium surgery, the tissue growth on the surface of the eye is removed to support clearer vision.
Retina surgery
Retina surgery involves procedures that help manage disorders affecting the back portion of the eye, such as macular conditions.
Corneal cross-linking
Corneal cross-linking is designed to reinforce the cornea and assist in slowing keratoconus progression.
Corneal transplant surgery
This procedure replaces damaged corneal tissue with donor corneal tissue to potentially assist in improving corneal transparency.
Eyelid surgery
This procedure involves adjusting eyelid structures that may interfere with normal eye protection or visual function.
Strabismus surgery
Strabismus surgery involves adjusting the eye muscles to potentially help improve alignment between the eyes.
Eye Conditions We Assess and Manage
Our ophthalmologists diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions using contemporary medical and surgical techniques.
The People Behind the Practice
Vision for Life Institute was established in 2024 through the merger of Southside Eye Centre, EyeCo Ophthalmic Surgeons, and Mary River Eye Specialists. From the outset, the aim has been to provide comprehensive eye care across Queensland.
Our ophthalmologists perform a variety of eye treatments and collaborate with clinical researchers to stay informed about emerging research, advancing technology, and current standards of care.
