Welcome to Vision for Life Institute
At Vision for Life Institute, we are committed to supporting adults in managing their vision and caring for their eye health at every stage of life. From cataracts and glaucoma to other vision-related concerns, we provide guidance and support.
Following a thorough assessment, our ophthalmologists will guide you through potential appropriate treatment pathways based on clinical findings and individual needs.
Eye Care and Treatment Options
Laser eye surgery
Patients may consider refractive surgery options such as LASIK, PRK, and SMILE, performed using modern ophthalmic technology.
Glaucoma surgery
A range of minimally invasive glaucoma surgery approaches are available, with the goal of lowering intraocular pressure and supporting optic nerve health.
Cataract surgery
Cataract surgery removes the eye’s clouded natural lens through small, carefully controlled incisions and replaces it with a clear intraocular lens.
Additional Eye Treatments
ICL surgery
Implantable Collamer Lens (ICL) surgery involves placing a lens inside the eye that may assist with focusing.
Refractive lens exchange
This procedure replaces the natural lens with an artificial lens to manage age-related changes in vision.
Eye injections
This treatment involves injecting medication into the eye for the management of retinal conditions.
Pterygium surgery
During pterygium surgery, the tissue growth on the surface of the eye is removed to support clearer vision.
Retina surgery
Retina surgery involves procedures that help manage disorders affecting the back portion of the eye, such as macular conditions.
Corneal cross-linking
Corneal cross-linking is designed to reinforce the cornea and assist in slowing keratoconus progression.
Corneal transplant surgery
Corneal transplant surgery involves replacing damaged corneal tissue with donor tissue in an effort to support clearer vision.
Eyelid surgery
Eyelid surgery aims to correct structural eyelid conditions that may affect eye protection or vision.
Strabismus surgery
Strabismus surgery aims to adjust the eye muscles to improve eye alignment.
Eye Conditions We Aim to Treat
We provide assessment and management for a broad range of eye conditions using modern medical and surgical approaches.
The People Behind the Practice
Vision for Life Institute began in 2024 following the merger of Southside Eye Centre, EyeCo Ophthalmic Surgeons, and Mary River Eye Specialists, bringing together ophthalmologists committed to providing comprehensive eye care throughout Queensland.
Our ophthalmologists are experienced in performing a wide range of eye treatments. Working alongside clinical researchers, we remain engaged with current research, technological developments, and evolving standards of care.
